Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability
to succeed and thrive in life. Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers and
children, ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country.
Bing Youth Institute
The BINGO mentoring program will provide mentees a safe environment to seek advice and guidance, to mature
and to improve their decision making skills. The three major components of the program are one on one mentoring,
social emotional learning and field trips.
Central Detroit Christian (CDC)
CDC offers the Breakthrough Enrichment program giving youth the opportunity to explore music, drama,dance,and art and our Breakthrough Karate program provides discipline and physical exercise. Soccer and flag football are available in the fall an spring. Middle School and High School students can participate in Club 3:16 and Club 7:37 which meet on Fridays during the school year.
City of Detroit - Recreation Centers
Programs are available for a range of ages and activity levels across the city. Activities range
from youth and senior computer labs to swimming, and many things in between.
In partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, Detroit PAL builds character
in young people through athletic, academic and leadership development programs.
Don Bosco Hall
Don Bosco Hall is a private non-profit agency, which provides supportive human services to enhance the quality
of life for youth and their families residing in the Metropolitan Detroit-Wayne County Community.
Imagine Mentoring (IM)
Imagine Mentoring implements life skills through educational sessions, motivational speaking, internal and external experiences that will inspire and motivate young ladies. IM intervenes and intercedes with their knowledge to naturally encourage young ladies to live beyond their obstacles and dream bigger than they have ever imagined.
Minority Males for Higher Education (M.M.H.E.)
M.M.H.E. targets young men of color ages 8 to 18. Program activities include:

College and career exposure
Playworks creates a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills. They seek to enhance school culture by creating safe, fun. and healthy play environments at school everyday.
Pretty Brown Girl
This program celebrates the beautiful shades of brown skin all over the world; while inspiring positive self-esteem and confidence. Their approach is to provide an engaging platform for the subtext that most girls of color live within throughout their lives.
The Manhood Project LLC
The Manhood Project targets boys, ages 9 to 18. Program activities include mentoring and leadership skills in
the development of African American youth character building, social skills and life building.
The Yunion's mission is to counter negative cultural influences that misdirect the lives of youth by raising awareness and strenghening families though innovative prevention progamming, education, parental engagement, mentoring and counseling .
This summer Youth Works will host two mentoring programs that serve at-risk Detroit youth from ages 3 - 17.
Youth Connection, Inc.
The Youth Connection provides college readiness, job training and exposure to a variety of careers.
Vip Mentoring offers the opportunity to have a child matched with a caring responsible adult who commits to
spending one to two hours per week talking, encouraging and just being a friend to a young person.
