Avengers Mentoring Programs

The Avengers offer free 6-week summer camps at Golightly Education Center, George Crockett Academy and Hartford Memorial Baptist Church,
Monday - Friday from 9 am - 4 pm beginning in July and ending in August.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers, Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life.
Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers and children, ages 6 though 18, in communities across the country.

Central Detroit Christian (CDC)

Both boys and girls participate in Cooking & Nutrition classes, girls participate in Fashion & Grace which teaches etiquette and Boys to Men which teaches boys how to become men. An enrichment based program that runs 5 days a week for 6 weeks for children and preteens in the 48202, 48206 and 48211 zip codes.

City of Detroit - Recreation Centers

Programs are available for a range of ages and activity level across the city.
Activities range from youth and senior computer labs to swimming, and many things in between.

Detroit PAL

In partnership with the Detroit Police Department and community volunteers, Detroit PAL builds character
in young people through athletes, coaches and parents.

Don Bosco Hall

Don Bosco Hall is a private non-profit agency, which provides supportive human services human services
to enhance the quality of life for youth and their families residing in the Metropolitan Detroit-Wayne County Community.

Goal Detroit

Goal Detroit is a fall soccer league for Detroit elementary school students.
Mayor Mike Duggan, Detroit PAL and several public and charter elementary schools started the league in 2014.

Imagine Mentoring (IM)

Imagine Mentoring implements life skills through educational sessions, motivational speaking, internal and external experiences that will inspire and motivate young ladies. IM intervenes and intercedes with their knowledge to naturally encourage young ladies to live beyond their obstacles and dream bigger than they have ever imagined.

Minority Males for Higher Education (M.M.H.E.)

M.M.H.E. targets young men of color ages 8 to 18. Program activities include:
Providing educational resources and opportunities
College and career exposure
Book clubs
College tours

Pretty Brown Girl

This program celebrates the beautiful shades of brown skin all over the world; while inspiring positive self-esteem and confidence. Their approach is to provide an engaging platfom fo the subtext that most girls of color live within throughtout their lives.

Summer Engineering Experience for Kids

This free three-week program will open to students who are current 3rd through 5th graders. Fifty Collegiate
mentors will be utilized to facilitate the hands-on curriculum that allows students to work in teams, using their knowledge.
to solve problems and create products while discovering the underlying math and science principles .

The Manhood Project LLC

The Manhood Project targets boys, ages 8 to 18.
Programs activities include mentoring and leadership skills in the development of African American youth character building, social skills, and life building.

The Yunion

The Yunion's mission is to counter negative cultural influences that misdirect the lives of youth by raising awareness and strengthening families though innovative prevention programming, education, parental engagement, mentoring and counseling .

VIP Mentoring

VIP Mentoring offers the opportunity to have a child matched with a caring, responsible adult who commits to spending one or two hours per week talking, listening, encouraging and just being a friend to a young person.

Wayne Metro (WM)

Wayne Metro delivers programs and services to tens of thousands of people in Wayne County including City of Detroit residents each year. Their services and referral networks are designed to help individuals and families in crises move toward stability. WM also works with people from diverse backgrounds to develop skills and long-term strategies to achieve success in life.

Youth Works

This summer Youth Works will host two mentoring programs that serve at-risk Detroit youth from grades 3-17.
