Urban Research and Outreach
The UR+O team supports the mission of the Planning and Development Department through research and outreach initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for Detroit residents. To accomplish this the UR+O team analyzes, evaluates, and maps changes to the built environment alongside socio-economic data across the City.
Geographic Information Systems
UR+O manages, collects, analyzes, and maps a wide variety of tabular and geospatial data in support of the PDD and other City of Detroit departments. The GIS is also used to display and communicate departmental plans, policies and target areas. Various departmental data sets and target areas are available through the City’s data portal. Below is a link to the City’s Detroit Open Data portal and the department’s (and other City) GIS files.
UR+O staff monitors and tracks PDD’s inventory of lots and structures. If you are interested in purchasing parcels currently identified as owned the Planning and Development Department, please go to https://detroitmi.gov/properties
