Mayor, Chief Craig announce 3-month Body Camera Trial Program
From March through June of this year, the Detroit Police Department will be testing out body worn cameras as it explores the possibility of fully implementing Body Cam technology later this year. Mayor Mike Duggan and Police Chief James Craig announced the trial program today as part of their efforts to bring greater transparency to the police Department in its interactions with the public.

New Programs Already Helping 7,500 Detroiters Save Their Homes From Foreclosure
More than 40 percent of the 18,000 Detroit families facing foreclosure on the home they own and occupy have taken advantage of new programs that are allowing them to keep their homes, Mayor Mike Duggan and Wayne County Treasurer Raymond Wojtowicz announced today. The deadline to enter into a payment plan is March 31, 2015.

It has been brought to our attention that some residents of Detroit have received calls from individuals claiming to work for the city. The caller asks that you allow them into your home to give you an estimate on flooring, roofing repair and other possible home repairs. The number to the Mayor's Office, (313-224-3400) appears on the caller ID, which will indicate "The City of Detroit."

City of Detroit Opens Three Warming Centers

The City of Detroit, in conjunction with local nonprofit homeless service providers, has three warming centers to offer Detroit residents a break from the winter chill from now through March 31, 2015. In addition, Detroit recreation centers and public library branches will serve as respite centers to allow individuals to warm up during the day.
