8/25/2014 - More than 1,300 city residents took advantage of the opportunity to get caught up on their water bill by attending the City of Detroit Water Fair at Cobo Hall on Saturday, August 23. The Water Fair was presented by Council President Brenda Jones, Mayor Mike Duggan and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) for customers to enter into payment arrangements prior to today’s end of the residential water shutoff moratorium.

7/28/2014 - The Detroit Fire Department recently was approved for $12,945,189 in funding towards new vehicles to improve its fleet. The vehicles, which include several new fire engines, rapid response units and rescue squads, will help reduce response times for both EMS and Fire by allowing them to have a larger and more reliable fleet of vehicles.

7/17/2014 - Detroit City Clerk Janice Winfrey and Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lon Johnson have announced that for the first time in history, Detroit will accept online applications for absentee ballots. Winfrey and Johnson called the project historic, saying it would result in increased access to the ballot in Detroit in 2014.
