10/1/2014 - Detroit City Councilmember Mary Sheffield (Dist. 5) will kick off her new “Occupy the Corner Detroit” Initiative at the King Apartments, located at 595 Chene at E. Lafayette on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m. The mission is to engage the community, connect them to resources and empower residents to be self-determinate with respect to improving the quality of life in some of Detroit’s toughest neighborhoods.

10/1/2014 - The Detroit Fire Fighters Association (DFFA) and the City of Detroit have reached a tentative agreement on a new 5-year collective bargaining agreement. Among other things, the new contract would result in a pay raise for fire fighters and health care benefits for future retirees.

For the past eighteen (18) months, the City Council, the Mayor, and the Emergency Manager have worked collaboratively to provide residents with the highest level of service possible in the midst of financial receivership.

City of Detroit Inspector General James Heath and Chief James Craig announced that the Office of the Wayne County Prosecutor has charged former Detroit Public Lighting Department (PLD) employee, Rudolph Washington, with 9 felony counts in connection with the illegal use of a City procurement card (P-card) and for stealing City- owned materials.
