New Program to Assist Low-Income Water Customers

The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD), as part of a regional program, will soon offer an innovative payment assistance plan to help low-income residents pay their water bills. The Water Residential Assistance Program (WRAP) launching March 1, will provide qualifying customers at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty threshold, with help in paying current and past-due water bills. 8/25/2014 - More than 1,300 city residents took advantage of the opportunity to get caught up on their water bill by attending the City of Detroit Water Fair at Cobo Hall on Saturday, August 23. The Water Fair was presented by Council President Brenda Jones, Mayor Mike Duggan and the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) for customers to enter into payment arrangements prior to today’s end of the residential water shutoff moratorium.
