Tiger fans coming to downtown Detroit for Opening Day activities will find convenient parking, expanded time limits for street parking and some street closings around Grand Circus Park and Comerica Park on Friday, April 7.

Motorists may pay for up to four hours at parking meters using Municipal Parking kiosks or the Park Detroit app on Friday, April 7. Individuals using the Park Detroit app can pay for parking and extend their parking time remotely, and receive mobile alerts 10 minutes prior to their time expiring. The Detroit Police Department also is reminding motorists that vehicles that are illegally parked (No Parking or Standing areas, handicap areas, near fire hydrants, blocking driveways, etc.) will be ticketed and towed.
Motorists are also encouraged to:
- Park in designated parking lots or locations, with clear signage and rates posted.
- Avoid parking in vacant lots and paying individuals unauthorized to collect parking fees.
Individuals who fail to follow the recommendations will be parking at their own risk as owners of private vacant lots may have unauthorized vehicles towed.
The following streets will be closed around Comerica Park:
- Brush from Madison to Montcalm
- Montcalm from Brush to Woodward
- Witherell from Montcalm to Adams
- Adams from Witherell to Brush
Individuals also can catch the Detroit People Mover (DPM) to Comerica Park or Grand Circus Park from a City parking facility. The Grand Circus Park People Mover station reopened April 4 after being closed for renovations since late February and will be open on April 7. The closest DPM stops to the stadium are Grand Circus Park and Broadway stations.
The People Mover hours on Opening Day are 6:30 a.m. on Friday – 2 a.m. on Saturday. The fare is just 75 cents per ride. Children ages 5 and younger ride free.
