In addition, DWSD is renewing the sewer system in the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood this summer. And, DWSD crews will be across the city this spring, summer and fall to inspect and clean 10,000 catch basins to reduce flooding.

DWSD is embarking on a five-year, $500 million capital improvement program to begin to rehabilitate the water and sewer infrastructure in Detroit. As the engineers finalize construction plans, this information will be shared in future customer communications.
