If you want to live or work in Detroit, there are opportunities for you!!
Small businesses are the heartbeat of Detroit because they help strengthen our local neighborhoods and communities. With programs like Motor City Match, BizGrid and D2D, the city has prioritized the growth of local businesses. This holiday season gives you another opportunity to support local businesses by shopping locally.
If you’re not sure where to start, the Detroit Experience Factory is hosting Shop Detroit on Saturday, November 28, to highlight local businesses where people can do some holiday shopping. Shop Detroit kicks off at the Detroit Experience Factory at 11 a.m. Shuttles will take participants from the starting point all across the city from Eastern Market, to shops on the Avenue of Fashion. There will be drop off points in different neighborhoods for people who can’t make it downtown or to one of the designated shopping areas.
Tour guides from Challenge Detroit will ride with participants along the way to answer questions and provide helpful information about the businesses and the local area. Routes for Shop Detroit will be clearly marked and passengers will be told when they can hop on and off of the shuttle. The tour ends at 6 p.m. and it is completely free. Register today online at http://detroitexperiencefactory.org/shopdetroit/.
A small business bizarre will be held at One Campus Martius, hosted by the Build Institute. The small business bizarre will include various local businesses including Sweet Potato Delights and Motor City Soap Company. Shoppers will be able to browse through dozens of local business in one space.
If you can’t make the tour, the Detroit Experience Factory hosts free walking tours and you can find more information about Shop Detroit on the Detroit Experience Factory website.
